Did you know that Samsung is a publicly owned company, which was founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-chui, and originally it was a tiny trading company that also sold groceries and manufactured noodles? During the sixties Samsung entered the electronics market and started manufacturing black and white television sets. Telecommunications came later, when in seventies they started manufacturing telephone switchboards. That very same facility, where once telephone switchboards were manufactured, is the site where Samsung is building all their smartphones today. Sometimes during the year 2016, Samsung is expected to ship their billionth smartphone device.

Samsung is one of the companies that make almost everything they release by themselves, regarding handheld devices, the display, the processor, the hardware, the chassis, everything. Sometimes Samsung decides to use a SoC by some other manufacturer, but mainly they keep everything in-house. They also keep the operating system the slightly adapted Android version with their TouchWiz user interface. Currently Samsung has several smartphones slated for release, besides the much anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Despite some rumours claiming that the Note 5 will not feature the latest Exynos 7422 chipset, it is yet to be confirmed if the new flagship model will feature the embedded package-on-package memory, the so called ePoP. The latest invention out of the house Samsung is supposed to further make the whole processor/memory package smaller, on top of each other, leaving more space for the much requested microSD card slot and the replaceable, bigger battery. These two were namely the biggest disappointments in the recent Galaxy S6 releases, the sales of which were – to put it mildly – below expectations and have forced Samsung to slash Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge prices down.

Samsung is expected to announce plenty of news in upcoming days, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is slated for the August 13th, 2015 and should provide the latest information on all devices with the famous Samsung logo, including the Note 5. Stay tuned for the latest news.
