It should be and remain a mystery how Motorola managed to call a smartphone after a fictional team of superheroes from the Marvel Universe, the X-Force. The less known and several times re-launched team of superheroes at some point included such fan favourites as Cable, Deadpool, Psylocke and even Wolverine. This more aggressive team than the X-Men have been rumoured for years to appear in a movie of their own, but since the popular introduction of Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds and the very much anticipated “Deadpool” movie that is already a success, although it is not even released yet, X-Force is officially a go at 20th Century Fox, slated for 2017. Motorola must know this, yet they release a Moto X Force smartphone now – and not even NVIDIA has filed an objection.

All the puns aside, Motorola has been truly exploding with good and great phones ever since they were purchased by Google and then forwarded to Lenovo. That infusion of money did wonders and their smartphones are now competing with the best there are. The Motorola Moto X Force is a flagship device, unmistakably so, but it also features a gimmick nobody else had up until now: The Moto X Force is MIL-STD-810G certified – salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant, besides being IP68 certified – dust and water resistant up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes.

The Motorola Moto X Force has a 5.43 inches display size, with a 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, which amounts to some 541 ppi pixel density nicely protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Inside is the notorious but incredible Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset, with an octa-core, or rather dual quad-core CPU, one of which is clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other at 2 GHz tact frequency; the on-board GPU is the powerful Adreno 430. Internal memory can be selected to be 32 GB or 64 GB, the RAM is in either option 3 GB RAM. There is also a microSD card slot allowing storage expansion of up to 128 GB.

The primary camera is a really nice one, 21 megapixel, resolution 5248 x 3936, with phase detection autofocus and dual tone dual-LED flash. The secondary camera is still 5 MP and has its own LED-flash. The included battery will be a truly remarkable 3760 mAh powerhouse, rounding up the otherwise also stellar specs. It comes with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system factory installed largely without any bloatware. There is no release date slated as of yet, but it is expected that the Motorola Moto X Force will be released sometime in December.
